Our Commitment:
Saunders Hotel Group, the management company of the Hawthorn Suites, has often been credited with pioneering urban ecotourism in 1989. What began as a single initiative at one SHG property, 20 years ago, has evolved into a single unprecedented environmental campaign that has created positive ripples throughout the entire lodging industry. Saunders Hotel Group has received international recognition for the most comprehensive environmental management models in travel and tourism - the world's largest industry.

As one of the newest members of the SHG family of hotels, the Hawthorn Suites is proud of the ongoing environmental initiatives that we have implemented. We are committed to serving you and protecting the environment by implementing many Green Environmental Initiatives such as:

Energy Conservation:
•  Energy efficient lighting has been installed in: guestrooms, lobby, public restrooms, meeting rooms, outdoor areas
•  Energy efficient lighting installed when replacing old lighting
•  Intermittent-use area sensors are utilized in: public restrooms
•  HVAC motion control sensors installed in guest rooms

Water Conservation:
•  Sheet reuse option for multiple night stays
•  Towel reuse option for multiple night stays
•  Water conserving devices are utilized including: low flow faucet aerators
•  Water conserving devices installed when replacing old fixtures

Recycling and The Environment:
•  Reusable food & beverage service used in lieu of disposable service items
•  Entire property is non-smoking

Environmental Purchasing:
•  Preference given to purchase of environmentally responsible products
•  Preference given to purchase from environmentally responsible service providers

In addition we continue to work on new initiatives and seek out new ideas to better serve our guests and reduce our impact on the environment.
